USAN: The South American Version?
Brazil's Fuehrer Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva recently stated that there's major sovereignty-eroding change forming in South America as well. Slowly, tho. The true masters with all that fake money and quasi-absolute power "are planning for a common currency as part of the integration of the individual countries into the Union of the South American Nations." (NaturalNews) The same kind of bullshit "union" most European countries signed-up to. The same kind of bullshit "union" North American people will be offered as solution to whoknowswhat!

South American elitist puppets pose for the official photo of the Union of South American Nations Summit, Unasur, in Brasilia, Friday, May 23, 2008. A new South American union was born Friday as leaders of the region's 12 nations set out to create a continental parliament.

NAU: What American serfs don't want
Americans are catching on to the North American Union scheme and voicing their opposition. The right wing grassroots organization, American Policy Center (APC), has just concluded a survey of one million American households. The survey, titled "Do Americans Support a North American Union", [...] questions were:
1. Have you heard of the Security and Prosperity Partnership? 58 % of those responding said they did Not know about the SPP.
2. Do you think private corporations should have the power to enforce trade policy that may adversely affect our national sovereignty and independence? This question related directly to the establishment of public/private partnerships between private corporations and government, granting no-compete clauses and comprehensive development agreements which provide guarantees by government to the corporations as investment returns. The TTC is not a free enterprise, but is government sanctioned monopolies. As this question was explained by the APC, 95% of respondents Opposed such policy.
3. Chapter 11 of the NAFTA agreement states that disputes over NAFTA-related issues will be heard in NAFTA courts superseding U.S. local, state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court. Question three asked, Do you think this would be a threat to U.S. sovereignty? 91% of respondents said Yes.
[...]
6. Would you support efforts to replace the U.S. dollar with a common North American currency some call the "Amero"? Though denied by the Bush Administration, there has been much discussion about the creation of a North American currency that would mimic the Euro. In an October, 2007 appearance on the Larry King Show on CNN, former Mexican President Fox answered in the affirmative when King asked about the creation of a united currency. 92% of respondents said they would Not support such a common North American currency.
[...]
8. Should the Bush Administration be allowed to move forward with its plans to create a "North American Community" without Congressional approval? Again, the American people have shown they understand that it is Congress which should decide such policy as this. They responded with a resounding 97% No to this question.
9. Do you believe the United States should be "harmonized" or merged into a union with Mexico and Canada? The words most often used by the Administration concerning the SPP are "harmonize" and "integrate". The U.S. is a representative Republic; Mexico is a socialist government; and Canada is part of the British Crown. There are no grounds for "harmonization" unless drastic changes are made to the U.S. judicial and financial systems. 88% said No to harmonization with Mexico and Canada.
10. Respondents were asked to provide comments and thoughts on the SPP. The word most often used was "treason". Another said, "I want no part of the social health care of Canada and I do not want to incorporate Mexico's turmoil and poverty into our United States.". Many others said, "I want secure borders, not easy traffic between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. And another bluntly said, "Bush's actions formulate a horrifying destruction of our proud nation". Many others used even stronger language. Once Americans learn about the SPP, they are clearly opposed.
In the face of this overwhelming opposition, on April 21-22, in yet another closed door meeting in New Orleans, President Bush and heads of state from Mexico and Canada continued to deny the SPP is anything more than a "dialogue" among the three nations.

Absolute Powerfreaks
"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men." ~Lord Acton
Whether it's the war on terror abroad for democracy's preservation or trade among other nations guised under the mantle of "free trade," or even "illegal immigration," the underlying, prevalent principle is globalism. This unprecedented, enthroning ideology stands as the new face of rule worldwide. Under one flag, currency and leader, the peoples of the world will forcefully be united under a common banner. [...] What's to come in the future is an America no more. [...] With an everlasting war, the ruling elite would have the support of a terrified population begging for security, even if that meant giving up personal liberties.
Through this everlasting turmoil, the ruling elite is able to offer up its own personal solution. And through rhetoric and propaganda, they will have successfully united the globe against a common enemy.
Soon, globalism will be the answer behind every problem. [...] They have systematically created chaos in order to establish an iron rule. Though it seems they have benign solutions to every problem, the reality is much worse.
Throughout history, man has wanted nothing more than absolute power, even if that meant manipulating the common man.
There is no way better to maintain and enforce absolute power than through a common rule - globalism.
This dark curtain of global dominance is the destroyer of sovereignty.
Soon, the United States of America will be no more, inevitably paving way for the "United Nations of the World," a predetermined fact of history that sadly, will enforce globalism on all.

The Secretive NAU Propaganda Machine
New documents have been uncovered that reveal how heads of state of the U.S., Mexico and Canada are beseeching business leaders they privately meet with to launch public relations campaigns in order to counter critics of the secretive Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP).
The documents detail how corporate representatives have been urged to "humanize" North American integration, promote NAFTA success stories to employees and unions and evolve the harmonization agenda "without fueling protectionism". [...] The memo details the SPP's behind closed doors inaugural meeting with the North American Competitiveness Council (NACC), an advisory Council Comprised of 30 senior private sector representatives of North American corporations that were selected by the American, Canadian and Mexican governments at the June 2006 trilateral meeting in Cancun, Mexico. [...]
The memo highlights how those advancing the North American integration agenda are concerned about the exposure and subsequent public backlash they have encountered recently.

The insane theory
The myth has also been central to Ron Paul's message-he has even introduced the issue before national audiences at presidential debates. It has resonated with millions of Americans because it preys on their nativistic prejudices and (often legitimate) concerns about globalization.
To be fair, the NAU theory (like any good conspiracy theory) has some basis in fact. The facts have been so distorted by the paranoiac fringe, however, that the NAU theory bears little resemblance to reality.
There is a substantial road in the works. In 2002, Republican Gov. Rick Perry of Texas unveiled a proposal for the "Trans-Texas Corridor." The road, while highly unpopular with some Texans, was approved by the state legislature and the governor. But it is a state initiative, not a covert and concerted effort to build a "NAFTA Superhighway." [...]
What about the "amero," the rumored currency of the NAU? Some political scientists have entertained the idea, but there is currently no evidence the federal government plans to ditch the dollar. Absent a constitutional amendment, the "amero" isn't remotely possible. Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution gives Congress the power "to coin money, regulate the value thereof … and fix the standard of weights and measure. [...] So this conspiracy theory is bunk. But don't take this liberal's word for it. The NAU theory has come under heavy friendly fire, too.
Jed Babbin, editor of the conservative newspaper Human Events, for which Corsi writes, compared people who believe in an impending NAU to those who believe in Bigfoot.
Michael Medved, a far-right talk show host, has called the theory "ludicrous," "childish," "ill-informed," "manipulative" and "brain dead."
Charles Krauthammer, a prominent conservative thinker and writer, said, "I love (the NAU theory) because if you ever doubt your own sanity, all you have to do is read this stuff and realize that you're OK."
And if your theory is too crazy for Krauthammer, then perhaps it's time you do doubt your own sanity.

SPP: Anything but sovereignty on their minds!
Could the governments of North America be conspiring to turn the continent into one united country? A group of protesters scouring Pitt Street Saturday believe it's only a matter of time before Canada loses it sovereignty to a super-powered government made of the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Dwight Dugas and several other Cornwall residents started their call to action against the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) outside the constituency office of MP Guy Lauzon, much the way they say similar grassroots groups did in 18 other Canadian cities Saturday.
According to the Government of Canada website, the SPP is "a commitment" by all three countries "to work together to build a safer and more economically dynamic North America" that focuses on the areas of cross-border transportation, security, economic prosperity, environmental protection and public health.
[...] The group's principal concern is the alleged creation of a universal currency to be used across all three countries known as the "Amero," a concept discussed by Professor of Economics Herbert Grubel of Simon Fraser University in his 1999 book.
"The SPP is a threat to our country and our way of life," Dugas said. "If we give up our currency, we give up our sovereignty. Whoever controls the money in a country has the power."
The SPP mandate claims to respect the sovereignty of each country, which Lauzon backed up Monday after an unrelated press conference at the Lionel Chevrier building.
"(Creating one country) is not what (SPP) is about," Lauzon said. "Let's say a pandemic of the flu breaks out. We can't have it getting across our borders. It's all about security and protecting the residents of all three countries. I don't think any of the leaders have anything but sovereignty on their minds at these meetings."

Primary Democratic Bullshit feat. NAFTA
Canada defended Democratic front-runner Barack Obama Monday over accusations from rival Hillary Clinton that he is secretly at ease with a hemispheric trade accord which he publicly blames for losing U.S. jobs. Clinton's criticism, on the eve of make-or-break presidential nomination contests for her in Ohio and Texas, stemmed from a report by Canadian television station CTV that an Obama economic adviser told Canadian officials the candidate was not seriously considering disrupting the trade accord. [...] "There was no intention to convey, in any way, that Senator Obama and his campaign team were taking a different position in public from views expressed in private, including about NAFTA," the embassy statement said. "We deeply regret any inference that may have been drawn to that effect." [...] Clinton, a New York senator, has made an issue of what she says is Obama's support for the North American Free Trade Agreement, which her husband, former President Bill Clinton, signed in 1994 but which is now under heavy election-year criticism from her and Obama.

The 2008 election's Sleeper Issue
One issue that is conspicuously absent from the rhetoric of the presidential candidates is the North American Union (NAU). The questions of immigration and border security are frequently raised and the candidates claim to realize the need for a clear immigration policy and effort to secure the borders of the United States. Yet when you begin to understand the purposes of the North American Union and the agenda of its proponents, you will understand why this will never happen. And you may also begin to see that you are being manipulated by the major candidates. [...] [Ron] Paul says that the real issue raised by the SPP is nation sovereignty. "Once again, decisions that affect millions of Americans are not being made by those Americans themselves, or even by their elected representatives in Congress. Instead, a handful of elites use their government connections to bypass national legislatures and ignore our Constitution – which expressly grants Congress the sole authority to regulate international trade." In this speech Paul predicts that the NAU will become a sleeper issue for the 2008 election, stating that "any movement toward a NAU diminishes the ability of average Americans to influence the laws under which they must live."

Fix the funny money system!
Many have now heard rumblings of the “amero”, a proposed North American currency to replace the Canadian loonie, dollar and peso. However, most of the mentions of this concept, when discussed in the mainstream media tend to focus on suggesting that talk of an “amero”, and in effect, the accompanying North American Union, is nothing but a conspiracy theory created by deluded xenophobes afraid of immigration and globalization. The Boston Globe recently wrote such a story, titled, “The Amero Conspiracy”, which stated, “The SPP [Security and Prosperity Partnership] does exist, and its tri-national task forces continue to meet, but its members consider it a way for the United States, Canada, and Mexico to collaborate on issues such as customs, environmental and safety regulations, narcotics smuggling, and terrorism. The amero, on the other hand, appears to be purely theoretical.” However, despite being conveyed as “purely theoretical”, a recent article in the national Canadian newspaper, the Financial Post, referred to the amero, not as a theoretical idea or conspiracy theory, but as a potential reality. The article entitled, Fix the Loonie says out the process to be undertaken before the adoption of a continental currency known as the Amero. [...] So clearly, there is a move on toward a regional currency for North America, in conjunction with the formation of a North American Union. Monetary sovereignty, and especially the power to create and issue money, is perhaps more central to the idea of a free, democratic and sovereign nation than the right to vote. If we do not have the power over the issuance of money, it does not matter whom we vote for. It’s the Golden Rule: he who has the gold, makes the rules. We, as Canadians, and other peoples of their respective nations should never relinquish this sovereignty over to regional boards, private banks, or other unaccountable individuals. It is our right, not a privilege, and giving up such a right is akin to giving up the right to vote; it is anathema to democracy and a free society.

Man, here we are covering family leave funding and home inspector licensing, when the big story is the elite group of bankers and intellectuals who plan to merge Mexico, Canada and the United States into one super-nation, replace the dollar with the amero, fit us all with tracking chips, and – take over the world?(!) Mrs. President sez:
[Bilderberger-Darling] Sen. Hillary Clinton addressed a town hall meeting there and was taking questions from the audience. One elderly woman rose and was asking the Democratic candidate about a rumored economic union among the United States, Canada and Mexico that is widely discussed, feared and abhorred among conspiracy fanciers. The woman said the president planned to implement the secret agreement in 2010. Then the woman called the president "Bush the bastard." The Democratic crowd immediately roared its approval. Sen. Clinton nodded her head slightly and smiled. Then, she proceeded to answer the question, [crying] saying "there's not a lot of truth to it."

Different Amero viewpoints
Because life's a funny game
"Since the Internet began, there has been web page after web page of conspiracy theories. The old conspiracies like 'Who shot JFK?' have given way to newer and bigger questions, 'Did the government have a hand in 9/11... how did the AIDS virus get started....and wild accusations about something called a "chemtrail". Especially today, with web sites like YouTube, those 'New World Order' theories are really getting popular. According to most of these, your children may be using Amero's as currency and not US Dollars! Amuse yourself by participating in a hunt for the best Conspiracy Theory on the Internet and get some great laughs out of it."
It's the Loonie stupid neo-cons want to tame
"In the wake of the loonie's rise above parity against the U.S. dollar, there has been a revival of the debate around the idea of a common currency between Canada and the United States. In one corner stand people like David Laidler who argue that it is a bad idea; the loonie should continue to float against the greenback. In the other corner, we have the likes of Herbert Grubel, Thomas Courchene and Pierre Fortin who clamour for some form of monetary integration between Canada and the United States."
Greenback: the new carry-trade currency
"In addition to the existence of ameros available for purchase, there are groups advocating the abolition of national currencies in favor of a single global currency, including the Web site singleglobalcurrency.org.
Some are legitimate sources of intelligent discussion about the relative merits of a single currency system, and some are less-than-credible rants on global conspiracy theories and propagation of urban myths.
But that doesn't seem to matter to those convinced that the introduction of the amero is right around the corner.
Now maybe it is easier to deal with tough economic times by ignoring the day-to-day realities of credit issues and slow job creation in favor of more sinister theories of where the economy is heading.
But if conspiracy theories are your cup of tea, perhaps it might be more productive to consider some more mainstream plots, such as the truth behind the Kennedy assassination or whether or not NASA faked the moon landings or perhaps the greatest conspiracy ever, the 1969 New York Mets.
But if fears of a growing movement toward creation of a global currency is keeping you awake at night, rest easy. There already is a global currency. And it is called the U.S. dollar.
Despite its recent decline against the euro, the U.S. dollar is still the major international reserve currency and is more than likely to rebound in the coming months and reestablish its global primacy."
All this Union, One, Global talk is sadly no conspiracy "theory"
"According to this economic legend, dark forces are at work as we speak to create and implement the "amero," a North American variant of the euro, to replace the American, Canadian and Mexican national currencies. And with the creation of that North American Union, so the conspiracy theory holds, goes economic freedom, Yankee ingenuity and probably apple pie."
So read this and realize: This ain't a theory this is tyranny!
"Many have now heard rumblings of the “amero”, a proposed North American currency to replace the Canadian loonie, dollar and peso. However, most of the mentions of this concept, when discussed in the mainstream media tend to focus on suggesting that talk of an “amero”, and in effect, the accompanying North American Union, is nothing but a conspiracy theory created by deluded xenophobes afraid of immigration and globalization. The attractive End Game
"One clear inference is that if The Cartel is pushing the Amero as the eventual, and their favored, alternative to the U.S. Dollar, The Cartel certainly intends to continue its interventional efforts at suppressing the prices of Gold and Silver in order to prevent their attaining widely-recognized legitimacy as money. The foregoing are only a couple of the components of this massive and dramatic End Game Plan, the particulars of which can be found in Deepcaster’s June, 2007 Letter at www.deepcaster.com at “Latest Letter” in the Archives. In the event of the success (from The Cartel’s perspective) of the implementation of the End Game Plan, doubtless The Fed would transmogrify itself into The (still private and very profitable) Central Bank responsible for issuing the Amero. Of course, the key question for the long-term is whether The Cartel will be able to pull it off. Certainly they have been instrumental in creating a financial climate which has crisis potential," warns the Deepcaster, while the New York Post says this: "The Amero is a term being used for a unified currency for North America - like the euro is for Europe. It's pie in the sky, but works well as a story line if you believe there's a conspiracy to purposely allow the US dollar to collapse in value.
The euro has been so successful - relative to the dollar - over its eight-year existence that the idea of a unified North American currency may be attractive to some.
Will it ever happen? Probably around the same time Americans start crossing the Mexican border by cover of darkness in hopes of finding a job. In other words, never."

The hidden candidate
This letter is in response to Gregory Hudson's Dec. 2 opinion on the presidential race lacking a real debate on poverty. One candidate has spoken and written on numerous occasions about issues that directly relate to the poorest American citizens. If you do a little digging on what he is advocating you will begin to understand that what he is trying to tell America is the only way we will ever be able to significantly reduce poverty. [...] He has taken on Greenspan and Bernanke about the hidden tax of "inflation." He is trying to educate us to the fact that this is a tax not only upon the poor and the elderly on fixed incomes, but a tax that will eventually affect the middle class.

The masters' new currency - brought to you by El Pollo Loco
Those of us living in the US live in a fascist system, right now, today. We live in a system where powerful corporations call the shots, both nationally and globally. They do this beneath a façade of democracy, a façade that has grown exceedingly thin. And every day they come closer and closer to allowing this façade to drop. It should be quite plain by now that our government does not heed the public mandate. [...] Our politicians are bought off. Most of them are members of the privileged class to start with, and once they leave office they will go to work for the very firms they should now be attempting to regulate.
The move to privatize has reached critical mass; we have sold off our infrastructure and our vital government services to corporations - worse than sold, we have handed these things over while promising to subsidize their ownership with taxpayer's dollars. [...] The building of a fascist system within the façade of democracy has been in progress for a long time. [...] What previous administrations used to do in secret, the Bush administration does in the open, and then grants itself immunity from future prosecution.
And now Bush has granted himself the power to abrogate the constitution and suspend elections through the declaration of martial law. He can do this for any perceived threat, whether it involves terrorism, economic crisis, environmental catastrophe, or social upheaval. Soon even the trappings of democracy will become unnecessary, and the US public will find themselves living in a repressive police state without any of the freedoms and protections from abuse that we have for so long taken for granted. [...] Yet even our gluttonous over-consumption is not enough to sustain economic growth. So we have turned to juggling bubbles of debt. The public is told that it is their patriotic duty to consume, consume, consume, even as their adjusted income continues to shrink. To fulfill our patriotic duty, we take out second and third mortgages, and we max out credit cards. Our debts are then repackaged and sold off as investments.
Now these bubbles are becoming unmanageable. Foreign investors, the other pillar of our economy, are beginning to divest themselves of the US dollar. A major economic crash is imminent, a crash that could make the Great Depression pale in comparison. Once this crash is complete, plans are already in place to replace the US dollar with the North American Amero, to establish the supremacy of the North American Union over the federal governments of the US, Canada and Mexico, and to keep the public in line through the establishment of a repressive police state.

Know the deal!?
Despite the dearth of definitive data on this deal, its dishonesty is demonstrable. To take one further example from the spp.gov website:
“Myth: The SPP is a movement to merge the United States, Mexico, and Canada into a North American Union and establish a common currency.
Fact: The cooperative efforts under the SPP, …seek to make the United States, Canada and Mexico open to legitimate trade and closed to terrorism and crime. It does not change our courts or legislative processes and respects the sovereignty of the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The SPP in no way, shape or form considers the creation of a European Union-like structure or a common currency. The SPP does not attempt to modify our sovereignty or currency or change the American system of government designed by our Founding Fathers.”
While you ponder the veracity of this claim -- and debate which is “myth” and which is “fact” -- I’d like to introduce you to Robert Pastor Ph.D., vice president of international affairs, professor of international relations, and director of the Center for North American Studies, American University in Washington, D.C.
At the beginning of November 2002, this highly credentialized individual gave a speech in Toronto entitled “A North American Community -- A Modest Proposal to the Trilateral Commission”. It is perhaps the clearest exposition of the SPP and its objectives.
Pastor argues, among other things, that NAFTA should be raised to a new level of cooperation. On this new level, the existing “two bilateral legislative groups” (Parliament and Congress) would be merged into one North American Parliamentary Group. There’d also be a Permanent Court on Trade and Investment -- though he doesn’t say how such a court would stop traditional U.S. contempt for Canadian economic interests (softwood lumber, anyone?) -- as well as a North American Commission to deal with immigration and customs, and propose measures like a continental infrastructure and transportation network, harmonized (sic) regulatory policies, a customs union, and a common currency.
On the latter point he said: “Mexicans and Canadians do not want to be incorporated into the United States, and they are ambivalent about adopting the American dollar, but they are more willing to become part of a single country of North America and of a unified currency, like the ‘amero,’ proposed by Herbert Grubel.” Grubel, of course, is a former MP and now a senior econo-theologian at the Fraser Institute, the British Columbia-based neocon propaganda factory that has more influence on national policy than do elected MPs. He made his proposal in 1999!
If you have considered spp.com’s “myth” vs. “fact” distinction while you read the discussion on Pastor, consider again this “fact” claim: “The SPP in no way, shape or form considers the creation of … a common currency. The SPP does not attempt to modify our sovereignty or currency or change the American system of government designed by our Founding Fathers.”
Significantly when Pastor speaks of the amero, he assumes that Canada and Mexico would convert their currencies to the U.S. dollar, thereby surrendering the right to set national monetary or economic policy.
One would think that in the time since the amero was formally suggested (1999) and SPP discussions were begun (2005) we, the Canadian public, would have been informed about them. Problem is, we aren’t supposed to know about it until it’s a done deal. Who will be doing this deal? Consider Pastor’s final charge to his audience:
“The challenge of the Trilateral Commission – (is) to sketch an alternative future for the entire continent that the people will embrace and the politicians will feel obligated to accept.”
There you have it. A clique of econo-political elites is going to remake North America in its own image and the citizenry of the three countries has no say in the matter! How much does Pastor’s Brave New Economic Order reflect actual discussions on the SPP? I’m sure inquiring citizens would like to know.
